CM Punjab E-Bike Scheme for Government Employees
Beyond the student e-bike scheme, the Punjab government has announced a parallel track offering subsidised electric bikes to its own junior employees, mirroring a similar federal initiative approved for junior federal staff in April 2026.
Who's expected to be eligible
- Your pay scale falls within BPS-1 to BPS-16 — employees in BPS-17 and above are not covered, since the scheme targets lower-grade staff who face the highest relative commuting costs.
- You're an active, currently serving Punjab government employee — not retired or suspended.
- You're not on deputation outside Punjab, unless your parent department is based in Punjab.
- You hold a valid Punjab domicile.
- You hold a valid motorcycle driving licence or learner's permit.
What it costs
The Punjab government has announced a subsidy of Rs 70,000 per e-bike, with the government also covering the full financing markup, making the remaining balance interest-free — the same zero-extra-cost structure used in the student scheme.
Timing: Government officials confirmed this track becomes available only once the first round of 100,000 student e-bikes is fully distributed. As of this writing, a dedicated application portal for government employees has not been separately announced — check official Government of the Punjab channels or your own department for the launch date.
How this differs from the other schemes
